Kyōran

Frenzy (きょうらん - Kyōran) is Hikage's reoccurring Ninja Art that appears throughout the Senran Kagura series. It also referred to Frenzy Mode. In this state, Hikage exhibits a significant increases in her abilities.

Frenzy is executed very differently between the 3DS main series and PlayStation sub-series.

  • 3DS Main series: Frenzy is a Mode that Hikage enters from near death conditions in Burst, as well as a Ninja Art executed by her in Deep Crimson.
  • VERSUS Sub-series: Hikage's Frenzy has been implemented into her other Ninja Arts making it easier for her to enter in that state.

Overview[]

Burst[]

Hikage enters Frenzy Mode when she reaches critical health. A purple aura emanates around her and she begins to take a predatory stance. Her voice changes from monotone to overtly expressive, and she begins to laughs maniacally. Her speed and power are significantly increased and her moveset changes completely. Hikage may only enter Frenzy Mode once per mission, and leaves Frenzy Mode upon her health leaving critical level.

Hikage also appears to temporarily enter Frenzy Mode while using her Super Secret Ninja Art, Splatter.

Deep Crimson[]

As her ninja art, Hikage unleashes shock waves of purple energy around her, damaging enemies for multiple hits. But unlike any of the other games, Hikage can only enter Frenzy Mode by holding a certain trigger. At the cost of one Ninja Art scroll, she briefly generates a purple shock wave. Her body begins to glow in a purple aura and her eyes glow red, leaving streaks of red light behind as she moves. In this state, her power and speed increase and her move-set changes, increasing her range. It only lasts a given amount of time before it needs to be activated again.

Shinovi Versus[]

In Shinovi Versus, Hikage enters Frenzy Mode after using her Level 2 Secret Ninja Art, Splatter. Her eyes glow red and she sticks her tongue out, while hunching over like a zombie. She becomes invulnerable to attacks, her speed is drastically increased and her moveset changes as well, increasing her range. Hikage will leave Frenzy Mode after a given amount of time. For the duration of Frenzy Mode, Hikage is unable to damage the opponents outfit and is unable to use Secret Ninja Arts until it ends.

Estival Versus[]

Hikage enters Frenzy Mode after using her Ultimate Secret Ninja Art, Pure Bliss. Much like in Shinovi Versus, this ability retains most of its uniformity from its previous version. Her range is drastically improved and her attacks show her swiping instantaneously from place to place as she attacks. Hikage will leave Frenzy Mode after a given amount of time. For the duration of Frenzy Mode, Hikage is unable to damage the opponents outfit and is unable to use Secret Ninja Arts until it ends.

Trivia[]

  • The way Hikage fights while in Frenzy Mode in Estival Versus seems to incorporate effects from the Shinovi Versus version of Pure Bliss. This makes sense, since Pure Bliss is the move that triggers Frenzy Mode in Estival Versus.
  • This Ninja Art bears incredible resemblance to how Hikage's Secret Ninja Art, Splatter, in Shinovi Versus; the only difference being that she doesn't enter Frenzy Mode after using it in Deep Crimson.
